A man of many trades, Mario Lopez has the overwhelming desire to always stay active. From actor to host, producer to writer; Mario Lopez has already made his mark on Hollywood and he has no plans to stop. Most recently, EXTRA named him the single host of the daily nationally syndicated show. Concurrently, Lopez will continue his hosting duties on MTV highest rated program, America’s Best Dance Crew. ABDC, as it is affectionately called by its fans, features twelve dance groups vying for the title of the Best Dance crew in the nation. Mario is no stranger to rigorous dance routines, in the third season of ABC’s hit Dancing with the Stars; he danced his way to the final round, taking the runner-up title. In 2009, Lopez will reincarnate his guest starring role as Dr. Mike Hamoui on the F/X network’s popular show Nip/Tuck. Lopez’s previous run on the series garnished an instant and well deserved cult following.
Not only does Mario have a penchant for the entertainment industry, he is also an avid sports fan. Lopez has taken his love for sports, specifically boxing, to the next level as a recurring commentator on HBO Boxing. This summer, Mario successfully completed his first run on Broadway. He starred in the hit musical A CHORUS LINE as the much loved character ‘Zach.’ A CHORUS LINE is one of Broadway’s most celebrated and long running shows. Mario has taken on another Hollywood venture, but this time he will be behind the camera. He is currently producing a project for Lifetime and is the executive producer of a project now in development at ABC Family.
Recently, Mario successfully completed another venture, this time as a writer of his own book. Mario Lopez’s Knockout Fitness is a bestselling fitness guide that offers readers a look into Lopez’s workout regime. Though Mario’s regime is intense, his book caters to every man and woman with the desire to improve their selves physically. Mario second writing endeavor will be a children’s book entitled Mud Tacos, which he co-wrote with his sister Marissa.
Even with all his other ventures, Mario is still in love with acting. He previously starred in the highest rated program in ABC Family history, Holiday in Handcuffs. He also starred opposite Mark Consuelos in the made for TV movie Husband for Hire, which was the most watched program ever on the Oxygen Network. Throughout the years, Mario has undoubtedly become one of the most well known faces in television, through the roles mentioned as well as his work on NBC's Saved by the Bell and USA Network's Pacific Blue, where he portrayed police officer Bobby Cruz.
Born in San Diego, Lopez began his career as the younger brother on the 1984 television series A.K.A. Pablo. After years of acting on television series, Mario Lopez brought the bachelor’s view that every single woman wants to know about to NBC’s talk show The Other Half. He also co-produced and starred in the 2002 independent film Outta Time. The film was distributed by Artisan Entertainment.
