Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio was born on November 11, 1974 in Los Angles, California. Leo's name was inspired by his mother when one day she was in Italy looking a Davinci painting when Leo started kicking from inside. At the age of five, he appeared on his favorite TV show "Romper Room" and was almost kicked off for misbehaving. He continued with commercials, educational films , occasional parts in TV series and got his first real role in 1991, as Josh in Critters 3 , he got his break-through part as Toby in This Boy's Life (1993), co-starring with Robert De Niro and Ellen Barkin.
This led the New York Film Critics and the National Society of Film Critics to name him runner-up for Best Supporting Actor. In 1993, he got his first Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations from the role of Arnie in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape". Followed by "The Basketball Diaries" in 1995, playing the difficult role of Jim Carroll. In that same year, he appeared in "Total Eclipse", in the role of the tormented homosexual poet Rimbaud. In 1996, he played angry teenage son of his mother in "Marvin's Room". The role that really brought him attention was when he was cast as Romeo in the same year in Romeo + Juliette. This opened a new Horizon for Leo, and the next movie was wha brought upon his celebrity status in 1997 in Titanic. After this movie, there were only grea opportuniities knocking at his door.
Not only is Leonardo a really great actor with a list of movies which only portrays his talents, but he is one of the sexiest men today to grace our screens!!
