Sexiest Men Alive Network : Julian McMahon Julian Dana William McMahon was born on July 27th, 1968 in Sydney, Australia. He was born to Lady Sonia McMahon, a fashion icon, and Sir William McMahon, the late Prime Minister of Australia from 1971-1972. He grew up as the second of three children and his parents always expected him to be a lawyer. He even studied at the law school in the University of Sydney. That all changed when one day, Julian was at his sister's graduation and a man told him that he should model. He thought about it and decided that it could earn big money for him. He soon started to get photo shootings at Los Angeles, New York, Milan, Rome and Paris. He was also in numerous Levi's Jeans commercials and those were the ones that gained him more recognition from his fellow Australians. He soon received an acting job on the soap "The Power and the Passion" which premiered in 1988. After a year and a half on the job, he got another role in "Home and Away" as Ben Lucini. There he met singer/actress Dannii Minogue and started a relationship with her. They were married on January 2, 1994. During the time they were married, Julian appeared in two of Dannii's music videos. The two soon went their own ways with Dannii moving to London to further her singing and acting career. Julian moved to Los Angeles, where he finished "Exchange Lifeguards"(or "Wet and Wild Summer" known in the US) and then to New York to star as Ian Rain on the American soap, "Another World". Because of the enormous amount of time they were spending away from each other, Julian and Dannii divorced in 1995. After the divorce, Julian yet again moved to L.A. He had the lead male role in a movie called "Magenta" which premiered in 1996. Soon after he completed that, he was casted in his first biggest role as detective John Grant in the NBC drama "Profiler". That role kept him busy from 1996-2000. During that time he also guest starred in the comedy "Will and Grace" in the seventh episode of the first season "Where There's a Will, There's No Way". Another project he accomplished during this time was "In Quiet Night" where he played a sheriff trying to help a girl get away from her abusive father. Julian soon met his second wife, Brooke Burns of Baywatch. They were both tired of going to premiers on their own so their agents set them up to go together. Julian and Brooke hit it off right away and started dating. They were married on December 22nd, 1999 and their daughter, born on June 9th, 2000, was named Madison Elizabeth McMahon. Soon after her birth, Julian was cast in another role of Cole Turner on the WB series Charmed. He played the handsome but devilish boyfriend of a witch named Phoebe Halliwell. While on the Charmed cast, he had been rumored to have been dating Alyssa Milano, the actress who plays Phoebe Halliwell. Instead he had really been dating Shannen Doherty, the actress who played Prue Halliwell, older sister of Phoebe. She asked him to star in one of her films with him called Another Day. After shooting that movie in Canada, the two went on a vacation to the Carribean and paparazzi caught them kissing. When he returned to L.A., he seperated from Brooke and the finally got divorced in early 2001. They still share custody of Madison. Julian was scheduled to leave after season three of Charmed but the fan outcry was so great that he was kept on for another season due to the useful petitioning of loyal fans. After season four (a season where Cole was turned human, married Phoebe, was possessed by the Source and finally vanquished) Julian was on vacation during the summer and decided that he need to move onto bigger and better things. In the middle of the fifth season Brad Kern, Charmed's producer, wrote "Centennial Charmed" which was also Charmed's 100th episode. In it, he killed off Cole and after this, Julian was free to try out for other roles. His next role was a lead role in a FX drama called Nip/Tuck. He plays the character of Christian Troy, a sex crazed plastic surgeon living and practicing in Miami. The role wasn't easy to get, however. Ryan Murphy, the show's creator had someone else in mind to play Christian so Julian filmed an audition in his kitchen. Murphy saw the tape and agreed for Julian to audition. He had to audition a total of 6(not sure too) times before he was accepted. In this show, he co-stars along with Dylan Walsh who plays Sean McNamara. Nip/Tuck has been called "a disturbingly perfect drama" and is often critically acclaimed for its outrageous plots and superb acting by all the actors. In the first year Nip/Tuck debuted, it was nominated for a Golden Globe in the category of "Best TV Drama". It lost to 24 but in the next year, it was nominated for that again and Julian was also nominated for Best Actor in a Drama! Unfortunately, he lost in his category but Nip/Tuck finally won the Golden Globe! During the summer of 2004, it became official that Julian would star in his first biggest movie role. He had been cast as Victor Von Doom (Dr.Doom) in the movie adaptation of the famous comic book, the Fantastic Four. He was co-starring along with fellow FX actor Michael Chiklis, Welsh actor Ioan Gruffuld, Dark Angel star Jesssica Alba and Cellular actor Chris Evans. After he finished shooting Fantastic Four, he delighted fans of his old character Cole Turner by agreeing to go back for one episode. "The Seven Year Witch" was Charmed's 150th episode and aired on April 10th, 2005. A few months later, Fantastic Four was released and garnered $56 million in it's opening weekend! It was the first movie to break a box office slump of about a year! Because of this success, Julian has signed on to two more Fantastic Four movies and has also finished another movie, Prisoner which is due out in 2006.
